UNLV graduate student Alexandra Lourdes and UNLV graduate Drew Belcher partnered to create and launch a website and app, UNLOKT.
“UNLOKT, Your Key to the City is the first and only trusted source for you to find ‘THE’ spots to go to in your city,” is their motto. It gives users a chance to find hidden gems in Las Vegas, and provides a forum for businesses to stay connected with the community by releasing real time updates with specials and events.
UNLOKT was launched in April and is available for free download in the App Store for iOS devices. The site has already received rave reviews with users saying they’ve been introduced to amazing places. They also say the app is super user friendly and bound to be the next big thing.
Lourdes and Belcher want to keep it credible. Not just any business can make a profile. They have to receive an invite to become part of the elite group of local businesses featured on UNLOKT. They are expanding by word of mouth, receiving recommendations from owners or locals. They have received recommendations on social media apps like Instagram, with 1,018 followers, locals will hashtag unlokt, #unlokt, to recommend businesses that should be added to the App.
